We are excited to provide blood testing at Revolution Health and contracted with the largest two labs in the country, Quest and LabCorp. Dr. Colton feels strongly at using objective measures as part of your overall health picture. The problem is that if someone has terrible insurance or has to pay out of pocket for their bloodwork it can be very expensive.

That's why we contracted with the labs directly, we are able to those savings directly to you. You aren't charged with outrageous markups that are charged to insurance companies (have you ever heard of someone paying $40 for an aspirin after they went to the emergency room...it happens!)

Dr. Colton negotiated rates for tests to save you money and, by not being bound to billing only what your insurance covers, we are able to run meaningful tests at an affordable price.

Once we have the tests necessary for your health status it's important to remember a couple of things. First, realize that the values that the labs and conventional doctors give you are a very large range. The labs take of of the values run in American and apply a bell curve to those numbers. If you are on the high end of the bell curve you will come back with a "high" value and if you are on the low end of that bell curve you come back with a "low" value. Can you see the problems with that? The range is huge and your comparing yourself to a sick culture of Americans as demonstrated by our high rates of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity, alzheimers, ect..

Knowing the limitations of how blood work is done, Dr. Colton has spent an enourmous amount of time learning what is not just "normal" but "optimal" for someone. Once we know those values it allows us to see trends that would otherwise be missed and make alterations to your lifestyle sooner rather then later.

FAQ

In most cases, yes. Fasting allows us to get the most accurate readings on some very crucial lab values. There are some blood tests that do not require fasting before and our staff will let you know if that is the case.
That depends. It depends on what state of health you are in and what the goals of treatment are. Some intensive interventions require blood testing every three months to monitor and adjust progress accordingly. If you are looking at prevtation, it would be recommended 1-2x per year.
A lot can change since last year and remember blood work is a snap shot of how your body is functioning at the point in time when the blood is drawn. That's one of the considerations we take into account with bloodwork as it can change from day to day. For example if you are experiencing more stress then usual, for whatever reason, we need to take that into consideration when looking at your overall health picture.
Most of the numbers we can probably use, however, the doctor that originally ran your tests most likely only ran what was covered by your insurance and missed some very valuable markers. You may want to consider adding certain bio-markers, if necessary, in our office.
